About Me…

Hi I’m Nikki, the owner and Midwife at New Beginnings Midwifery.

I was not a midwife when I had my first child and felt lost in the public system. I was however, fortunate enough to find a private Midwife who provided continuity of care throughout my pregnancy and supported my wishes for a waterbirth at home. I felt so empowered and nurtured by this experience; to have the birth I wished for, to be a part of all decision making and having the comfort and security of really knowing my care provider. So, I become a Midwife!!

I feel passionately that women deserve choices when it comes to birthing their babies and should be empowered, supported and trusted through their pregnancy and birth journeys.

It took me 4 years of University, 2 more beautiful homebirths, a lot of renovations and just a little more study, but finally, here I am doing what I love best. My partner and I built the clinic from the ground up and my daughter designed and painted my business logo. My family and I have poured our heart’s into making the clinic a beautiful space so that everyone who walks in feels safe, comfortable and welcomed.

Now I’ve been a midwife for 10+ years, working in both public and private sectors.

Currently, I am providing continuity of care for antenatal and postnatal periods only. In addition to being employed at Latrobe Regional Hospital working in birth suite, antenatal and postnatal areas part-time.

Nikki is such a beautiful soul and a talented midwife and we were so lucky to have her work with us during our second pregnancy. I love this model of care; the casual appointments and never feeling rushed chats, the quick message responses and even Nikki dropping me off a much needed script at 9pm at night. I felt incredibly well cared for which allowed me to have a smooth pregnancy and a positive, informed, and empowered birth and feeding journey. I could never put into words my appreciation for Nikki and her clinic xxx

"Birth Matters... It matters because it is the way we all begin our lives outside of our source, our mother's bodies. It's the means from which we enter and feel our first impression of the wider world. For each mother, it is an event that shakes and shapes her to her innermost core. Women's perceptions about their bodies and their babies' capabilities will be deeply influenced by the care they receive around the time of birth."
